About Chief Shawn Oke

Chief Oke is a pioneer in the fire service.

His vision, dedication, and expertise on enhanced water streams will be the standard for the fire service in the near future.

For we have always fought against change but it doesn’t take a historian to look back and see the things we fought against the most are the tools we rely on the most.

His understanding of fire behavior and how the enhanced water stream makes the extinguishment process even faster is an unrecognized commodity in the world of modern fire behavior.

On the fire ground today we have 10 times less time to extinguish the fire and Chief Oke’s vision of having nova cool (enhanced water) on every attack line on AFD’s apparatus makes extinguishment occur even faster.

His understanding is not by a few classes. He complete the EFO program at the National Fire Academy where his project was on enhanced water streams.

He has conducted numerous fire ground research tests through the Kill The Flashover Project. And he has placed Thermal Imagers in his Battalion Chief’s vehicle to aid the Incident Commander in seeing the big picture. His dedication and passion will not go unnoticed and we should be thanking him now for the difference he has already made.

Bravo Chief Oke! A true fire service visionary…

God Bless,

Andy J. Starne
