Firefighter Training Episode 41:

In this firefighter training episode, I talk with Lt. Johnny Winston Jr. about lessons learned and the power of mentors.  We also define the many different ways to get mentors and have mentors. Lt. Winston also emphasizes that when we’re in the front seat, we really have to know our stuff and he shares how to do that.

We discuss:

What it takes to be a great leader and firefighter in today’s fire service.

Diversity in the fire service and how, although we may be different, we can all work together — and how important it is to do so.

Questions that get answered:

  • How & when Johnny listens to podcasts
  • How we can make our careers even richer
  • How to handle the diverse workplace
  • How to build relationships with others that maybe different than us
  • What are 5 minute clinics
  • How valuable it was to have a mentor for Johnny & David
  • How to get on the insiders list
  • and much more
