We will all face challenging times, now and in the future. If you want to succeed especially during challenging times, I want you to have something I never had: these steps.

This information when implemented will help you as it did me.

Tip #10 – Possess A Strong Desire To Make A Positive Difference

Believe in yourself.  At the end of the day, it’s going be okay.  It will work out.

It may not work out the way you want it to, but you will still be okay.
Be too stubborn to give in and quit.  Don’t let the bad guys win.

When we do this first step, we will be on our way to succeeding through challenging times

It’s easier to lead during the challenging times when you possess that inner drive to make a difference in your department and the profession. Keep focused on the big picture and use the challenging times and setbacks as a growing experience and turn them into a positive.

Remind yourself that tomorrow is another day and that sun will rise and you will continue to make a positive impact in the profession.

Tip #9 – Read/Listen To Positive Inspiring Material

Read/listen to material on success stories about others who have overcome challenges, who are motivational and inspiring.  You can find these on blogs, books, magazines, YouTube, podcasts, audio books, etc.

Here are a few to get you started:

Legendary Basketball Coach John Wooden’s material

Norman Vincent Peale

Albert Einstein’s Biography

Nelson Mandela’s Biography

Read/listen to biographies of known leaders and their accomplishments and challenges; rest assured these individuals faced leadership challenges and we can learn from them and be inspired by them.

Read at least 30 minutes a day. This is bare bones and ideally you want to read at least 60 minutes a day. Get up early, stay up late, do what you have to do to read everyday.

If you have not given this the attention it deserves, put yourself on a 30-day plan. Start week #1 reading for 15 minutes each day.  During week #2 read for 30 minutes each day.  In week #3, read for 45 minutes a day.  At the end of week #4, you should be reading 60 minutes a day.

Our profession has lost and burned out too many great people, don’t become one of them.  Follow these tips.
