What do you tell your crews after you go though what the Baltimore City Fire Department went through on the shift of April 27, 2015 if you are the Battalion Chief?

Well, I had the inside scoop from boots on the ground of what they were experiencing.  One of the numerous commendable acts that stuck out to me was what a Battalion Chief told his crews and said on his Facebook page.

After a long and grueling shift which covered the Baltimore Riots of April 27,2015 that included 19+ structure fires, 155+ plus auto fires and 100’s of calls for service (unofficial numbers) for the BCFD. This is what Battalion Chief Josh Fannon said to his crews and on his Facebook Page at the end of the shift:

“… the Baltimore City Fire Department just showed the nation and the world they are still a top-notch fire department, staffed by some of the best in the business. Sleep well today my friends, you earned it, you are my heroes! – BC Josh Fannon”

Well said BC Fannon and bravo BCFD and those mutual aid companies that assisted.  Great job doing “The Job” and representing the BCFD and the fire service throughout the U.S. and the world with honor and perseverance as the world watched.  You never gave up and the city is still standing.

BCFD Lieutenant informed that they were being attacked with bricks, bottles and boards at car fires by rioters while doing their job.  For safety purposes, the fire units had to leave the scene of auto fires and return later.

Videos from news reporters showed rioters cutting holes in charged supply lines.

Additional news videos showed rioters throwing objects at fire apparatus enroute to emergencies.

With all of these knuckleheads coming in from out of town to cause more trouble, be extra careful when approaching all scenes and doing the initial size-up. Secondary devices are highly possibly in these times. Praying for you Baltimore.

What are the charges on the looters and distruction of valuable proprerty facing, and how much time are they facing. Not just insighting a roit…..these nucklehead hoppers actually did this bullshit….just asking and saying…..seems to me like it should be quite some-time.
