The Healthy Sweet Treat for Firefighters
Live a longer life by eating this sweet treat
Today I’m going to tell you some great news. You can live a longer life by eating something sweet and delicious. The reason is because this treat actually reduces your blood pressure and helps manage your blood sugar.
Recently I wrote a series explaining the major things that firefighters must do to reduce their risk of having a heart attack on duty. One of these things is to avoid being hypertensive. That’s because according to research looking at firefighters who had died on duty of cardiac events, those who had high blood pressure were 12 times more likely to suffer a fatal heart attack.
Another risk factor is having type II diabetes. Those who were diabetic were 10 times more likely to die in the line of duty.
If you want to live long enough to meet your grandchildren you should keep an eye on your blood pressure and your blood sugar to prevent hypertension and diabetes. The most important thing to do to prevent and treat both of these conditions is weight loss. However, weight loss can be extremely difficult for many, and there are a few other things you can do.
Now to the sweet treat.
Eat cinnamon. Research has shown that eating this sweet spice can not only help you avoid hypertension and diabetes, but it also reduces inflammation in the body which is believed to majorly contribute to the progression of heart disease.
There are lots of great ways to eat cinnamon.
Try adding a spoonful to your oatmeal and smoothies. It goes great on breads and you can sneak it into some casseroles. It is really good in coffee and you can add it to other warm drinks like tea and cider. Also try it on roasted vegetables and meats, it is surprisingly delicious on foods that you wouldn’t normally think of. You can also buy it in pill form.
