FirefighterToolbox Podcast/ Internet Radio Show Episode #023

Interview with City Administrator Bill Shanahan

About this Episode:

Intro provided by Dillon Messina, Tampa, FL

What is like being a city administrator?  We, as firefighters,  get frustrated with the politics and the city/town officials.  But have we ever thought about what its like to be a city administrator?  What do they base their decisions on?  What are the toughest decisions they have to make?

As firefighters, how do we know if the city administrator is doing the right thing or is just motivated by self ambition?  I can’t speak for all administrators and I know there are some shady ones, but I wanted to learn from and share with you more about the day and life of a city administrator.

In this interview, I talk with Bill Shanahan about these questions and more.  He is the real deal and was truthful and transparent.  He is someone that I have admired about his core values and how he makes decisions and administers a city. At the time of the interview he was the Deputy Administer for the City of Augusta.  (The fire chief reports to him)
