About Walter Lewis
Walter Lewis is a 25-year member of the fire service, the last 19 with the Orlando Fire Department where he is a District Chief. He has served in various positions with OFD on some of the busiest Engine and Truck Companies. He is also a Search Manager for Florida Task Force 4, a state asset for USAR operations.
His earlier involvement in the fire service includes two years as a volunteer firefighter in a rural community, then later as a paid firefighter/paramedic for a suburban fire department for four years. He is a founding member of the FOOLS, a fraternal organization for the fire service, and has presented lectures and teaching hands-on programs around the country, including Firehouse Expo and FDIC.
His love of the fire service began at an early age with his father and brothers all being involved in the town fire department. His brother John served as a career firefighter, retiring from the Passaic, NJ FD as a Lieutenant and has been a great influence and mentor for him. He is married to his wife Michelle, and has three children, Riley, John and Payton, all of whom are awesome and very supportive.
